We just bought a 1996 Chevrolet S10 Blazer and wonder what problems we are likely to encounter.

My wife and I just purchased a 1996 Chevrolet S10 Blazer with about 80,000 miles on it.  It is a 4.3L Vortec V6 automatic.  It is an LT series with the electric push button 4wd as well.

We were just wondering what some common problems are with these Blazers.

Can anyone tell us a few?

Thanks,

Mine isn't a 4-wd, but I just got it from my brother. The windshield wipers weren't working so I called the dealer and gave them the VIN # & asked if there were any recalls.

There was one on the windshield wiper motor, so they will replace it.

And the heater core went out a 2nd time. The part is $79.00, but the labor that will get you.

The typical stuff, brakes and shocks, I had replaced.

But now I have a lot of play in the front end. I have been told it's the upper ball joints and a center link that needs to be replaced.

This is a very nice SUV. I hope it lasts a long while.

Do you mind me asking what you gave for your Blazer?

Good luck.
