My husband and I purchased a new home in April of 2002.
We had quite a lengthy "punch-list" of items to be corrected from a pre-closing
Home Inspection Report.
We were told that the driveway (which was already very
cracked and pitted) would be corrected and that the interior trim work (Very poor
workmanship on the paint job) would be fixed. We went on with the closing as there
were other extenuating circumstances.
Upon turning in our 30 day "list" of repairs, we
began to see that these items were never addressed on the work orders. About three
months later I was finally told these items were not "warrantable" items and
would not be fixed. I explained we had been told by employees that they would be and
the lady in charge of this program for the builder did agree to supply paint --- but not
the labor.
Regardsing the driveway, she said she would send a crew to
repair, clean and seal it (from all the cracks though, it really needed replacing!)
The crew, however, did not repair any cracks or pits, did not clean the driveway and then,
when they sealed it, they proceeded to spill the sealant in an ugly, brown bubbled mass on
my sidewalk and left it!
I immediately called the company, left messages for three
different people on four occasions to no avail. I was left a message on my machine
about two weeks later that "someone" would be by to look at it.
That was almost four months ago and no one has come.
Also, in trying to correct a "bowed" fireplace box, the supervisor took a hammer
and pounded it in leaving indentation's.
I have brought these matters to the attention of the home
buildering company's owner, who maintains no responsibility to correct these problems.
I want the people in the market of purchasing a home to be
aware of what has happened to me and to carefully consider purchasing a home from any home
building company.
