Last Sunday I purchased my first computer package from a well known electronics store, but I won't get my rebates.

I spent what to me was a large sum of money and did some upgrading because of the rebates being offered.  The salesperson told me to copy all my receipts and rebate slips and follow the rebate instructions carefully.

On Thursday I set up my computer.  On Friday I looked at my rebate slips for the first time when I was going to copy them so I could send them in.

That is when I became aware that I needed to have all of my boxes that my products came in.  I had already sent the boxes to the dump that morning.  After several phone calls I have been informed that this is just too bad.  There is nothing that anyone can do about it.

This is a loss of $380.00 in rebates for me.  I have all of my original receipts and rebate slips which have SKU numbers on them from my boxes being scanned, but because I don't have the actual boxes, I am simply out of luck.

I feel like these rules really make it easy for the manufacturer to avoid paying rebates to innocent, hardworking people.  I also feel that perhaps salespeople could mention to you that you will want to keep your boxes.  I cannot afford to throw away nearly $400.00!

When I asked about returning my system and making a new purchase, I was told it would cost me $600.00 to return it!
